|Tuscany: the fascination of a magic land|
When people think of Tuscany the image that comes to mind is that of Florence and the stream of its visitors.
But also Tuscany’s landscape exerts a special fascination throughout the year. Here in Tuscany man has shaped the landscape and turned it into a great garden situated between city and country..
Tuscany is rich in remains and traces left by the first settlers in Italy, the Etruscans, and later by the Romans, with their amphitheatres, thermal baths and cities, not to forget the medieval fortified villages on the hills immersed in a countryside culture.
The cradle of the Renaissance lies in the rich city states of Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Arezzo and Pistoia as well as the renown places set along the coast with their white sandy beaches. Even in the tiniest villages in the hinterland you will find excellent trattorie proud of their local wine, that must not necessarily be Chianti, whose cuisine is based on products from Tuscany’s soil: extra virgin olive oil, crunchy white traditional bread without salt, “bistecca” from white Chianina veal, season vegetables from the garden …and of course wine.
