Never tell a Sicilian that when you think of his island, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, the image that comes to mind is that of Taormina and Naxos with its tourist beaches. Although these resort do belong to Sicily, they represent a small part of the numerous sightseeing of the region with its rooted artistic, historic and cultural tradition. Sicily spent much of its history being conquered by the great powers of the ancient world: Palermo is strongly influenced by the Arabic and Norman culture, the Greek buildings in Agrigento and Syracuse, the harsh hinterland where old customs are deeply rooted. For accommodation we recommend the surroundings of the great tourist centres where the quality-price ratio is very good.
* Instead of Palermo: surroundings of Trabia, Campofelice di Roccella * Instead of Trapani: surroundings of Marsala, Mazara del Vallo * Instead of Agrigento: surroundings of Porto Empedocle, Sciacca * Instead of Taormina: surroundings of Giardini Naxos, Sant´Alessio Siculo, Letojanni
Have a nice holiday in the land of the sun!
