|LATIUM... all roads lead to Rome|
Rome is not only the capital of Latium but also the capital of Italy. A short sightseeing tour in Rome includes: the Vatican with St. Peters Cathedral and St. Peters Square, the Spanish steps, St. Angelo Castle, the Colosseu,, the Roman Forum or the lively entertaining district Trastevere, to mention a few.
Driving and parking permits are released by ATAC. You can contact the company by telephone or fax or through the web site http://www.atac.roma.it/.
We suggest that you visit the town on day tours because hotels are expensive and foften ully booked. A good option is staying in the area of the Alban Hills.
If you want to be accommodated in the centre consider a stay in religious community houses. These facilities run by nuns are fairly basic but pretty and prices are reasonable.
A very nice place undiscovered by mass tourism is Lake Bolsena; from here you can reach attractive destinations such as Orvieto, Viterbo, Tarquinia and many others.
For overnight stays or not expensive accommodation we suggest the area around Fiuggi (approx. 50 km from Rome), a well known thermal resort with a wide range of hotels at reasonable rates.
